How to install new springs on garage door.

Tap the carriage bolt into the garage door with a hammer. The doors with two springs are easy to replace. Tie the extension spring to the roller track then detach the cable from the bottom bracket with a pair of pliers. When your new springs arrive put the new left spring.

A pair of new springs cost about 25. Place your new bottom bracket on the bottom of the garage door. Don t stretch the springs so far that the sheave on the spring and the stationary sheave touch when you retest the door. Pre drill the door for the new carriage bolts.

A couple of carabiners can. Lock the door open again with c clamps or locking pliers and stretch the extension springs another one to two inches with the garage door in its fully open position. Finger tighten nuts on bolts until the stationary cone is flush against the center bearing plate. There are two types of garage door springs.

Insert the bolts in the stationary cones of the new torsion spring and insert the bolts in the slots on the spring anchor bracket. Repeat this process on the other side of the door. Install the center bearing and the right spring then secure the cones. Slide the left spring onto the tube and add the cable drum.

Insert the carriage bolts through the door from the outside. Make sure that the bearing is inside the stationary cone. Thread the cables and tighten.
