This is what it looks like when you install a steel shingle roof system over an existing asphalt shingle roof.
Install roof vent no shingles.
Hammer down any large nails that are exposed by the removal.
Install a layer of roofing insulation as recommended by the roofing manufacturer.
Press new shingles onto the caulk and use nails at the top of each shingle to fully secure them to the roof.
Trim the shingles with your utility knife photo 14.
Using the example above three round vents would be needed 432 144 3 vents or nine square vents 432 50 8 64 or 9 vents.
Add any connectors and end caps that came with your ridge vent system to ensure the vent is watertight.
Nail it down with your roofing gun top and bottom.

Cover the entire flange with shingles to integrate it better into the roof.

Glue down shingles to cover the bottom of the vent.
Place a line of roofing tar or caulk on top of the vent s flange or its bottom flap using a caulk gun.

Multiply it by 18 square inches the net free air per foot of ridge.
Install the shingles up and halfway past the vent hole or stack.
Seal the top nail holes and continue on up with your shingles.
Rather than being installed on the roof gable vents are installed on the exterior side wall of the home near the roof ridge.
Drill a hole upward through the middle of the area you desire and leave the drill bit sticking up through the roof so you can find it from the outside.
First head up to your attic and determine where you want to install your roof vent.
